![]() So it pains me to say this, but I dont like the new web site. Point it at a pair of folders and it will make sure the second folder is always exactly like the first. The log shows files/folders that have out-of-range timestamps and any errors encountered when scanning or setting new timestamps. Im a fan of v1 of Bvckup and I took part in the testing and gave feedback in the Bvckup forums. Preview is exactly the same as Process, except it skips issuing "set timestamps" requests when out-of-range timestamps are found. Timestamps on both files and folders are checked. Timestamps that are earlier/later than the range start/end time will be replaced by the latter. This in turn will cause Bvckup 2 to needlessly re-copy these files on the next run. Details on why delta copying is the best thing since sliced bread, how it works and when it breaks, see here - delta copying explained. Put it bluntly, I am not convinced that spending time on adding full support for general-purpose portable use is the best use of my time. Which is a fancy way of saying that it copies only changed parts of each modified file. As such, the true portable use of Bvckup 2 is not something that Ive given much consideration to nor, to be honest, its something that I think a lot of people would actually need to begin with. Its default copying mode is delta copying. As a result these timestamps cannot be correctly replicated from source to the backup and this will cause source and backup copies to _appear_ to be out of sync as they timestamps won't match. This makes Bvckup a real-time backup utility. ![]() In particular, it can be used to reset timestamps that are so far in the past (or in the future) that they are not supported by the file system of the backup device. Bvckup 2 is a mirroring data backup software notable for its use of delta copying, speed of operation, small resource footprint and a 'beautifully functional' user interface. Files are mirrored and their previous copies are not archived (unless a file is deleted, in which case the app can archive its backup copy). Timestamp Clamper allows resetting file and folder timestamps that fall outside of specified time range. Correct, Bvckup 2 is not meant to protect against human errors, this is not its primary purpose.
